Lambing Flat Chinese Festival cancelled

It is with regret that Council advise the cancellation of the 2020 Lambing Flat Chinese Festival scheduled to be held in Young next Saturday 21 March.

From unrelenting drought, the constant threat of bushfires, being engulfed in smoke for weeks on end during patches of extreme heat, and a variety of issues with quality and accessibility to clean drinking water, these issues remind us how interdependent we are with the environment. We have problems with our waste management, with the tips and control of recyclables additionally causing concern.

Councillor Column- 25 February 2020- Mayor Brian Ingram

I was pleased to attend the official opening of the Cranfield Oval amenities recently. This project brings to fruition a great deal of work on the grounds that was initiated by the Young Sports Advisory Committee with funding by the former Young Shire Council and has been continued by Hilltops Council. The new amenities block will ensure that both local and visiting sporting teams have access to modern day facilities. This is another example of the great results that can be achieved through the collaboration between State and Local Governments.

Village Waste Management Facilities

Council is on its way to providing new and high quality waste and recycling services to Reids Flat, Bendick Murrell and Koorawatha.  With the assistance of the NSW Government, Council is proceeding with gaining approvals for new waste transfer stations, replacing the landfills currently found within each village.

Hilltops Council Financial Assistance and Sponsorship Programs open for applications

Hilltops Council is again calling for applications from community organisations who are seeking financial assistance or sponsorship from Council for the period 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020.

New Practitioners for Kruger Health and Wellness Centre Harden

At an Extraordinary Meeting of Hilltops Council held yesterday, 10 February 2020, Council resolved to award the tender for the provision of medical practitioner services at Kruger Health and Wellness Complex in Harden to Australian General Practitioners Pty Ltd. This follows a careful tender process  managed by Morrison Low Consultants that saw a high calibre of expressions of interest submitted for consideration.
