Hilltops Christmas Spending Spree

The festive season is fast approaching, and Hilltops shoppers will be rewarded yet again this year with the opportunity to win big in the Hilltops Christmas Spending Spree promotion being rolled out by local Chambers and participating businesses.
An organising committee with representatives from Boorowa, Harden and Young Chambers of Commerce have already met to refine the finer details of the program and build on the success of the Spree 2019, which saw three lucky shoppers share in a prize pool in excess of $9,500 in the lead-up to Christmas last year.
This year’s promotion is expected to open next month, and businesses are being invited to get on board now with a commitment of just $100 each to take part and support the program that aims to keep money circulating in the local economy and support local jobs.
In 2019 the program involved 94 local businesses and independent research showed their commitment of just $100 each returned more than $135,000 in spending to the local community which would have otherwise been lost from local business.
Spending Spree spokesperson for Young, Alison Foreman, said; “the organising committee were really finding their way with the promotion in 2019 and blown away with the value it returned for business and the Hilltops community broadly.”
“The concept is really simple, business makes a small commitment to take part and money raised is used to promote them and the importance of shopping locally. Then, as a reward for choosing to spend money with participating businesses, local shoppers have the chance to walk away with substantial prizes. When the prizes are redeemed with participating business the money comes full circle back into the community. It’s a win, win for business and customers.
“The idea of shopping local and supporting local businesses has never been more important than in 2020 to minimize the effects of Covid-19. We have to focus on our future to keep the local economy ticking along in the best possible shape, to create jobs and job security for our local people,” Ms Foreman concluded.
