Hilltops ANZAC Day Driveway Service

Hilltops Council is supportive of the ANZAC Day Driveway Service and encourages residents to join the nation in honouring our veterans by standing in their driveways with a light (candle, torch or mobile phone), to commemorate ANZAC day in 2020.  Council understands this service cannot replace the traditional ceremonies which sadly are unable to be held this year due to the impacts and restrictions caused by the COVID-19 virus.

It would be trite of me not to address the pervading event that is dominating our lives. Covid – 19 has caused society to live very differently and we as individuals are doing our best to follow directions, and act in the best interest of the greater good.

Councillor Column- 7 April 2020- Mayor Brian Ingram

I understand that many in our community are anxious and concerned about the events that are occurring not only worldwide, but here in Australia. This is a difficult and stressful time for all, particularly for the  most vulnerable in our community. We can and will get through this together if we all do the right thing and look out for each other.  This means maintaining social distancing and recommended hygiene measures such as washing our hands and coughing into our elbows.

Councillor Column- 31 March 2020- Councillor John Walker

Nearly a month has passed since Hilltops Council welcomed new General Manager Anthony O'Reilly. Anthony and his family came from the challenges of bushfires and floods in the coastal Eurobodalla Shire to a contrasting environment here. We all say a very warm welcome to the whole O'Reilly family. Since arriving Anthony has made immediate big decisions on helping steer Hilltops region through the COVID - 19 virus pandemic. This is what I call starting on the run because I believe the Hilltops region has to get more tuned into the advice of all our National and State leaders and health authorities to minimise the spread of the coronavirus.
