Temporary changes to Koorawatha Landfill Facility

16/07/2021

Council has made some changes to the operation of the Koorawatha Landfill. The change has come about because we are reassessing our processes for opening new landfill cells. The changes are temporary only.

From 14 July 2021, waste at Koorawatha will be disposed of into skips provided at the site rather than into landfill cells. Residents are asked to deposit waste into the waste skips provided, and recycling into the recycling skips provided. The system is similar to what is provided to our residents at Murringo and Monteagle. The skips provided will be cleared weekly.

We ask residents to not place waste or recycling onto the ground, but into the skips themselves. The service is for domestic waste and recycling only.

Council appreciates the cooperation of residents during this temporary period.

If you have any concerns or questions about the new arrangements, please contact Council:

Council apologises for any inconvenience caused by the temporary arrangements.

Council also advises residents that the draft Hilltops Waste Management and Resource Recovery Strategy is on public exhibition. The Strategy is a document that sets high level direction to Council’s waste planning. Copies of the draft Strategy can be found at Final Exhibition Copy Waste Strategy (nsw.gov.au) or in hardcopy format at the front counters of Council’s Young, Harden, and Boorowa offices. Comment on the draft Strategy is invited in writing up till 4.00 pm on Thursday 22 July 2021.
