Hilltops Council will be conducting aerial weed control via helicopter along the Hume Highway on Tuesday 8 December 2020, weather permitting. This new environmental initiative will assist in the management of invasive grass species such as African Lovegrass. Additionally, it is proposed to undertake ground application spraying of Blackberries along the roadsides.
On the day there will be interruptions to traffic flow along the Hume Highway and some access roads leading onto the Hume Highway. It is hoped that these interruptions will only occur during the time of works. Traffic control and signage will be in place and motorists are advised to exercise caution.
Should landholders be interested to learn more about using the aerial measure for the control of priority weeds on their own property, or have any questions regarding this program please contact Council’s Biosecurity Officer, Mr Tom Pickering on telephone 0436 806 276 or 1300 445 586 during business hours.
