Addressing Council

All Council meetings are open to the press and the public. Some matters may be considered confidential in accordance with the Local Government Act 1993 and therefore are considered by Council in a closed session. At a Council Meeting members of the public may only address Council during the Public Forum section at the start of each Ordinary Meeting. Applications to speak at the public forum must be received by 12 noon on the Tuesday before the date on which the public forum is to be held and must identify the item of business on the business agenda of the council meeting the person wishes to speak on, and whether they wish to speak ‘for’ or ‘against’ the item. For further information on how to address Council please refer to Council’s Code of Meeting Practice (Section 4 – Public Forums).
