COUNCILLOR COLUMN

For Immediate Release 25 November 2025 Authorised by Councillor Neil Langford

As 2025 draws to a rapid end and we look forward to the new year, Council faces another big year, with plenty of projects ongoing and more to be delivered throughout the next 12 months.

Top of the list is the community consultation process currently being undertaken by Council in relation to the major water and sewer upgrades and maintenance for both the Harden and Boorowa communities.

As part of Council’s Integrated Water Cycle Management Strategy, major works are required for both the Boorowa and Harden/Murrumburrah water and sewer management systems to address asset backlogs and provide sustainable water and sewer services that meet community and regulatory requirements.

The works required are due to ageing infrastructure, ongoing population growth, and future development in the Hilltops region.

Council is calling on the community to engage in consultation, which includes community workshops to provide residents of Harden and Boorowa with an understanding of both the financial costs and the impacts and risks involved in the ongoing management of water and sewer services for Boorowa, as well as the ongoing sewer management for Harden/Murrumburrah.

Both projects are expected to cost millions of dollars, but until finalised drawings, plans and a timeframe are compiled, a final costing is difficult to predict.

For more information, residents in Boorowa and Harden are encouraged to contact Hilltops Council or visit the website.

As this will be my last Councillor Column for 2025, I’d like to wish everyone in Hilltops all the

best for the festive season, and I look forward to working with you in the new year.
