Hilltops Australia Day celebrations in Young

Jan 21, 2021

Council are pleased to advise that they will now be able to accommodate an increased number of guests at the Australia Day Ceremony being held at the Young Town Hall next Tuesday, 26 January 2021. The increase in number of guests permitted is due to a relaxation of the current NSW Health Orders for Australia Day events.

Residents who would like to attend on the day will need to register for the event with the Young Visitor Information Centre by emailing vic@hilltops.nsw.gov.au or calling 1800 628 233 by 1pm Monday 25 January 2021. COVID safety measures announced by the NSW Government have impacted the celebrations and pre-registration of attendance is essential if you wish to attend. Numbers are limited; however the event will be live streamed on the Hilltops Council Facebook page for those who are unable to secure a registration.

The ceremony will commence at 9.30am with the Acknowledgement of Country by Isabel Newham-Clarke, followed by a welcome by Hilltops Council, the Citizenship Ceremony and Australian Affirmation Ceremony. This will be followed by the introduction of Australia Day Ambassador Geoff Lawson. The Australia Day Award announcements and presentations of Business Award, Junior Citizen and Citizen of the Year will then take place.
