The new budget has a strong focus on delivering stronger country communities, grant projects and asset renewal with water and roads being key priorities as indicated by the community and will use loans to fund new infrastructure and spread the cost for ratepayers now and in the future. The budget reflects Council’s long-term goal of financial sustainability and the delivery of quality services, infrastructure and outcomes for the community.
The budget forms part of Council’s Operational Plan and Delivery Program which incorporates a Long Term Financial Plan, Workforce Management Strategy, Asset Management Strategy and Revenue Policy which includes fees and charges for the coming financial year. The plan outlines the programs and projects Council will undertake to fulfil their obligations to the community and deliver the vision of the Community Strategic Plan together with the funding sources and expenditure for the financial year. Each of these documents should be viewed as integral elements of Council’s overall strategy.
“These documents are Council’s response to the Community Strategic Plan and are our promise to the community on what we will deliver within our term.” Mayor Brian Ingram said.
“It is an exciting time for Hilltops Council moving forward as one consolidated organisation, we have worked hard putting the budget together and encourage the community to view the documents and look forward to receiving their feedback” Mayor Ingram said.
