Council’s role, as directed under the Local Government Act 1993 and the NSW Biosecurity Act 2015, is to control priority weeds on lands under the care, control and maintenance of council such as reserves and roadsides and to promote and enforce, where necessary, control of weeds on privately owned and managed lands. These activities play an integral part in an overall state weed management framework.
The aim of the Hilltops Weeds Advisory Committee is to:
- Provide strategic advice to guide and support Councils weeds functions in relation to the Local Government Act 1993 and the NSW Biosecurity Act 2015; and
- to inform regional planning and management of local and/or regional priority weeds.
If you believe you could add value to this committee, please submit your interest (using the Section 355 Committee – Application for Membership Form) addressing reasons for interest in committee membership, stating your previous experience or skills in relation to the committee aims, and an indication of the community goals/outcomes you wish to achieve through committee membership.
