Level 3 Water Restrictions in Force for Boorowa

Feb 20, 2026

Council advises all users of the Boorowa town water supply that Level 3 Water Restrictions have been implemented from today, Friday 20 February 2026, and will remain in force until further notice.

Extended hot and dry weather conditions, along with very limited rainfall, have continued to significantly reduce inflows to the Boorowa Weir. Despite the previous water restrictions and the use of bore water, demand remains high.

The move to Level 3 restrictions is required under Council’s Drought Management Plan, which specifies that Level 3 Water Restrictions are to be applied when water levels fall below 600 mm under the weir crest. These restrictions are designed to minimise water use and prolong the availability of water in the Boorowa Weir. They aim to reduce average daily water consumption to below 184 litres per person.

Water is a precious resource, and Council urges all users of the Boorowa town water supply to conserve water, comply with the new restrictions outlined below, and use water efficiently to help extend supply for as long as possible.

WATER USE RESTRICTIONS

RESIDENTIAL WATER USE

NON-RESIDENTIAL WATER USE

Please note, the odds and evens scheme applicable to some activities under Level 3 Water Restrictions aligns with the calendar date that restrictions are implemented. As 20 is an even number, properties with even street numbers may water on Friday 20 February, properties with odd street numbers may water on Saturday 21 February, and the schedule alternates each day thereafter (22nd evens, 23rd odds, etc).

Council will actively monitor compliance with these water restrictions and take action where appropriate to improve compliance.

It is an offence under the Local Government Act 1993 to not comply with water restrictions, and you can be issued with a $220 penalty notice or prosecuted in the local court for this offence.

Thanks to the Boorowa community for their cooperation and encourages everyone to be water-wise. These measures are essential to protect the town’s water supply and avoid more severe restrictions in the future.
