National Cherry Festival King/Queen or Ambassador Competition call out
Hilltops Council, in collaboration with the National Cherry Festival Committee, invites members of the Hilltops community to join in on the fun of the revamped Cherry King/Queen or Ambassador competition.
In its 73rd year, the National Cherry Festival is embracing modern updates to the conventional King/Queen competition. In contrast to previous years, this year the winner will be able to choose which title they wish to be crowned. Options include Cherry King, Queen or Ambassador.
Another exciting change to the competition is that there will now be one overall winner of the competition, with the title of Charity Queen now being retired. The individual who raises the most funds for their chosen charity will still receive the most points, in combination with other judging factors.
If you would like to represent our community, this is a perfect opportunity. Isobel (Izzy) Cumberland, our first entrant for the 2023 Cherry King/Queen or Ambassador competition, will be raising funds for Margaret House and is excited to be afforded the opportunity to give back to her community. Izzy expressed her enthusiasm, stating “It is the perfect opportunity to get to know more people within the Hilltops community and give to such a worthwhile charity. While being the only entrant at this time I would love some company and competition for the journey. The more entrants the more charities and community benefits”.
The National Cherry Festival Committee and Hilltops Council encourage community members to join Izzy in the 2023 Cherry King/Queen or Ambassador competition.
Applications close midnight Saturday 30 September 2023. To download a competition guide and for further information visit: https://nationalcherryfestival.com.au/cherry-queen/.
