Media Release – 15 February 2024 – Boorowa Boil Water Alert Update

Feb 15, 2024

For Immediate Release Thursday 15 February 2024
Authorised by Anthony O’Reilly

The Boil Water Alert remains in place for Boorowa. Council appreciates the frustration this is causing residents and apologises for the inconvenience. The health of the public is the highest priority for both Council and NSW Health. Please refer to the FAQs issued by Council on 8 February 2024 for information and guidelines regarding the Boil Water Alert.

Upgrades are currently being undertaken to improve process control and better manage risks associated with the agricultural catchment that feeds the treatment plant. This has required components to be sourced from interstate, such as a specialised pump from Brisbane (which has been installed and is currently being tested). Once these upgrades are in place, Council will be required to demonstrate appropriate operation over a number of days before the Boil Water Alert can be lifted.

Council staff continue to work in close consultation with NSW Health and the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water in undertaking the above tasks.

Mayor Margaret Roles shared “Council is working hard to improve drinking water quality for Boorowa and I thank Council staff and partner agencies for their efforts to protect the community’s health”.
