Hilltops Council Australia Day Celebrations
The Hilltops region will mark Australia Day 2025 on Sunday 26 January with celebrations across the region.
The Boorowa Australia Day ceremony will be celebrated at the Boorowa Recreation Grounds with festivities commencing from 8am. The Lions Club will provide breakfast and there will be a fishing competition for the kids. The official ceremony will begin at 9.30am with the Australia Day Ambassador for Boorowa soon to be announced by the Australia Day Council. An Australia Day luncheon will be held at 12.30pm at The Boorowa Hotel (bookings to be made with the venue). The event also has a big line-up of other activities, including the Rotary rubber duck race, lawn bowls, 9-hole golf competition then the Balladeers and Yarn Spinners perform at the Boorowa Recreation Club from 4pm.
The Harden-Murrumburrah Australia Day ceremony will be celebrated at Newson Park from 8am starting with breakfast and local musicians and singers providing entertainment. The official ceremony and awards presentation will feature Australia Day Ambassador Mr Peter McLean, Executive Officer of the Australian Organics Recycling Association, former NSW CEO of Keep Australia Beautiful.
The Wombat Village Australia Day ceremony, organised by the Wombat Progress Association, will be held at Wagenbah Oval from 10am. There will be a free sausage sizzle and parade at 12 noon followed by the official ceremony and awards presentation at 12.30pm which will again feature Australia Day Ambassador Mr Peter McLean, Executive Officer of the Australian Organics Recycling Association, former NSW CEO of Keep Australia Beautiful. The event also has a big line-up of other attractions, including a tractor pull, vintage car and antique engine display, the Brendon Holmes Memorial Best Dressed Australiana, market stalls and camel rides.
Australia Day in Young will once again be celebrated at Carrington Park from 8.30am with the official ceremony including Citizenship and Australian Affirmation ceremonies commencing at 9am. An Australia Day Lunch in the Park BBQ will be hosted by The Rotary Club of Young from 10am along with family fun activities including Just Circus Box and live music from Lukie Jewitt.
To celebrate and enjoy the day further across the Hilltops region, enjoy free entry to the Council’s pools in Boorowa, Harden, Jugiong, and Young.
