Progress Update on Young’s New Lawn Cemetery
Council is pleased to announce progress on the development of the new Young Lawn Cemetery, following the completion of a supplementary geotechnical investigation.
Geotechnical investigations were conducted due to initial uncertainties regarding soil suitability, the additional work has now confirmed that the soil conditions at the proposed site are suitable for burials.
“With the conclusion of these investigations, we are confident in moving forward with the next steps of this vital project,” stated Acting General Manager Jaime Dyhrberg.
“We are currently finalising the development application, which had been temporarily paused during the investigation process. This application will soon be submitted to Council”.
Upon approval of the development application, Council plans to commence the initial phases of construction, beginning with the layout of roads and the first phase of infrastructure development.
In addition to these advancements, Council staff have engaged in discussions with neighbouring landholders regarding stock access. A survey will be arranged prior to installing and replacing fences to manage access.
Council looks forward to progressing this project to meet the needs of our community.
