Hilltops Australia Day Celebrations 2024


 Australia Day will be celebrated with events across the Hilltops this Friday 26 January 2024.

The Boorowa Australia Day celebrations will be held at the Boorowa Recreation Grounds,with festivities commencing at 8am. The Lions Club will provide breakfast and the CWA will be hosting a Devonshire Tea. The official ceremony will begin at 9.30am, with Australia Day Awards being presented by Australia Day Ambassador Greg Donovan, motivational speaker and founder of ‘Born to Run’. An Australia Day luncheon will be held at 12.30pm at the Boorowa Ex-Services Club (bookings must be made with the club). Balladeers and Yarn Spinners will perform at the Boorowa Recreation Club from 4pm.

The Harden-Murrumburrah Australia Day ceremony will be celebrated at Newson Park from 8am, beginning with breakfast, whilst local musicians provide entertainment. The official ceremony and awards presentation will feature Australia Day Ambassador Ms Promilla Gupta OAM, the Premier’s 2018 Multicultural Regional Community Medal Winner.

The Wombat Village Australia Day ceremony, organised by the Wombat Progress Association, will be held at Wagenbah Oval from 10am. Australia Day Ambassador, Ms Promilla Gupta OAM, who was awarded the Premier’s 2018 Multicultural Regional Community Medal, will attend the official ceremony and awards presentation. The event has many other attractions, including a tractor pull, vintage cars, an antique engine display, the Brendon Holmes Memorial Best Dressed Australiana, and market stalls.

Australia Day in Young will be celebrated at Carrington Park with the Young Regional Conservatorium performing from 8.30am. The Citizenship Ceremony and Australia Day Awards Ceremony will commence at 9am, featuring Australia Day Ambassador Peter Cousens AM Actor/Singer. An Australia Day BBQ will be held in the park from 10am along with family fun activities, including Circus Box, live music with Jane Dee, and children’s games.

To celebrate and enjoy the day further across the Hilltops region, enjoy free entry to the Council’s pools in Boorowa, Harden, Jugiong, and Young.
