Project Update: Delay in Iris Street Culvert Replacement, Harden

Hilltops Council wishes to advise that construction works currently underway on Iris Street, Harden, have experienced delays due to adverse weather conditions and additional works required to replace existing stormwater structures.

The works to replace the culvert and associated water main infrastructure have now been completed. Further works will continue, including upgrading the existing timber deck and handrails to a concrete footpath with new safety handrails on both sides. These improvements will enhance the long-term safety and durability of the crossing for both motorists and pedestrians.

The Iris Street project includes current work on road reconstruction and drainage improvements to the creek, with upcoming works to include the installation of concrete footpaths, handrails, and a retaining wall to complete the structure.

While works commenced in late April as scheduled, the completion timeline has now been extended, with works expected to continue until mid to late July 2025.

Iris Street will remain closed to all traffic between Albury Street and Neill Street for the duration of the project. Detour signage remains in place, and there will be no pedestrian access through the site until the works are complete.

Council thanks the Harden-Murrumburrah community for its patience and understanding as we continue to deliver this important infrastructure upgrade.
