One New Aussie Welcomed to the Hilltops
A new Australian citizen was welcomed at a special ceremony held in Carrington Park, Young, on Sunday, 26 January 2025.
The event took place as part of the Australia Day celebrations in the Hilltops region with Jenyfe Roberts officially welcomed by Mayor Brian Ingram, who presided over the ceremony.
Australian citizenship ceremonies hold significant meaning during our national celebrations. Jenyfe now joins a special group of Australians who celebrate the anniversary of their citizenship each Australia Day.
This year marks the 76th anniversary of Australian citizenship, which was established on 26 January 1949 with the enactment of the Nationality and Citizenship Act 1948. The first Australian citizenship ceremony took place on 3 February 1949 at Albert Hall in Canberra.
We wish our newest citizen all the best as she embarks on this exciting new chapter in her life.
