Hilltops Council Launches Monthly Village Barbeques for Enhanced Community Engagement

Hilltops Council is excited to announce the launch of monthly village barbeques aimed at encouraging increased dialogue between residents and Council representatives.
Recognising the importance of inclusivity across the entire Local Government Area (LGA), the barbeques will provide an avenue for residents living outside the townships of Young, Harden, and Boorowa to voice their concerns and priorities directly to Councillors and Executive staff.

A barbeque will be held each month, and villages will be visited on a rotational basis. The first village barbeque will take place in Rye Park on 19 June 2024 at 12noon. The barbeque lunch will be held at the Rye Park Showground.

In addition to the barbeque at Rye Park, and in partnership with the Rye Park Village Association, Council will also be launching a village planning exercise. This planning exercise will provide insight and guidance from the Rye Park Community, which will help Council progress and develop the village alongside residents. Council hopes to explore ideas to improve the economic prosperity, community wellbeing and environment within Rye Park. Council’s Biosecurity Officers will also be in attendance to provide residents advice on the obligations of rural landholders under the Biosecurity Act 2015.

Council encourages residents to attend our upcoming village barbeques, and will keep the community updated with further scheduled dates.
