Update: Waste Services – Hilltops Temporary Road Closure, Thornhill Street, Young
Council would like to inform residents that waste services will continue as normal during the temporary road closure of Thornhill Street, Young, between Spring Street and Allanan Street.
The closure began on Monday, 24 February 2025, and is expected to last for about 8 weeks.
Council is working with its waste contractor to ensure that bins will be emptied on the usual days. Please place bins at the kerb as usual and allow additional time for the bins to be collected.
Depending on the stage of work, Council will ensure pickup is completed via one of two options:
- Option 1: If it is safe and they are able to do so, garbage trucks will drive through the worksite and pick bins up as normal.
- Option 2: If there is bad weather or it is unsafe for trucks to enter the work site, bins will be moved to the nearest cross street by Council personnel to ensure they are emptied. Council has written house numbers on the insides of bin lids to ensure each house has the same bin returned.
