Cherry King Queen competition

The National Cherry Festival Committee annually run the Cherry King/Queen Competition, where community members put their names forward to be ambassadors for the Hilltops Region and compete for the crown.

Unfortunately, following the call out on 5 May for the 2022 competition, the committee are disappointed to announce that there are no entrants for this year’s competition. However, it is not too late to keep the tradition alive and enter!

The competition begins 1 July 2022 and is open to all community members who reside in the Hilltops Region and are 18 years and older from 1 July 2022. A major part of the competition is to raise money for a local charity or not-for-profit group of the entrants choosing.

The President of the National Cherry Festival Committee, Caitlin Sheehan, said “The entrants become the face of the festival. The competition is a lot of fun and is a great way to immerse yourself into the community. You learn about yourself, the region and develop meaningful friendships along the way.”

“As a past Queen, it is concerning to be nearing the start of the competition and still have no entrants. I would be saddened to see the competition not go ahead.”

If you are interested in the competition, you can pick up a copy of the guidelines from the Hilltops Visitor Information Centres in Boorowa, Harden and Young or download a copy from www.nationalcherryfestival.com.au.
