With the Christmas season coming up, Council is asking residents to make an extra effort for kerbside recycling.
Hilltops Council General Manager, Anthony O’Reilly, says; “Hilltops always does well with recycling rates at this time of year, but we still find some potential recyclables in amongst ordinary waste. We’d love to move the community recycling rates up to the next level with a bumper recycling effort this year.”
“We’d also ask that residents take a little time to make sure that what is put out in the recycling bin is just recycling. Any contamination makes it more difficult for our hard-working recycling team to send clean loads to market. For example, recyclable items within plastic bags cannot be recycled, so please don’t bundle recycling up in bags,” Mr O’Reilly concluded.
