Due to recent heavy rain and flooding, Council is limiting the extraction of raw water from the Boorowa River for treatment. It is therefore necessary to introduce Level 2 Water Restrictions in order for Council to be able to maintain continued supply of drinking water by reducing demand in the short term. Due to floodwater being highly turbid, the raw water being extracted from the river requires additional processing time at Council’s Water Treatment Plant to produce water to drinking quality. These restrictions will be effective from Wednesday 12 August 2020.
A summary of level 2 water restrictions is as follows:
Activity | Level 2 |
Watering of gardens | 7am-10am and 4pm-7pm every second day on an odds and evens system |
Irrigation of new turf | Up to one week after laying |
Washing down walls or paved surfaces | Not permitted |
Topping up private swimming pools/spas | 7am-9am and 6pm-8pm, provided pool covers are used |
Washing cars | Allowed with bucket and rinsed with trigger hose on lawn between 9am and 12 noon |
Use of evaporative air conditioners | As needed |
Odds and evens system explained: This means that if the street number of your property is odd you can water in accordance with the restrictions on odd days. If your property has an even number you can water in accordance with the restrictions on even days. If your property has a range of street numbers then it should be treated as odd or even as per the first number in the range. For example if your property is 12-15 Smith Street then you can water on even days in accordance with the restrictions.
