The Young Town Band (YTB) first formed over 160 years ago, it currently is a Section 355 Committee of Hilltops Council.  Ever since the Lambing Flat Riots until today, there has been consideration to the past, present and future of the band and its current members.

The regular rehearsals for our members of any age and ability, the concerts in the local community, the interactions with the audiences that come to support us and the events that we play at must be able to enjoy this history and hear the current incarnation of the band.

Advancement in performance levels to keep interest of our audiences is a vital element of the band’s focus.  This has been achieved in the past by attendance and successful participation in competitions, workshops, collaboration events and much more.  A strong leadership team is always ideal and the Young Town Band has always worked hard to achieve one so that the continuity will be there for future generations.

If you wish to join the band, we have spare instruments, free membership, regular performance opportunities, and a welcome attitude to all peoples.

We rehearse in the Young Town Hall from 6pm – 7:30pm Monday nights of the NSW school terms. Any age and ability is encouraged to attend.

We also offer to our band members three scholarship programs including ‘new members’, regular attendance and masters scholarships of up to $1,000 each.

Contact of the band can be through our Facebook page, email at youngshireband2594@gmail.com or by phoning the Musical Director on 0408488749 (Rodney Clancy).
