Young Rugby League Club in conjunction with Hilltops Council with funding from the State Governments Stronger Community Fund has commenced much needed playing area drainage works at Alfred Oval in Young this week. The works, being completed by local contractors and Council staff, will take this oval out of bounds to the public during the drainage construction period, which is estimated to take about two weeks. After this construction period it is asked that the public refrain from any informal or scheduled sporting activity on this ground for a further 3 weeks to 8 October 2018 to allow playing surface to settle after scheduled renovation works.
Please note the works will not affect greyhound training activity on the track surrounding the oval and that Council staff are working in with the local greyhound club during this current work.
This project is one of many projects being funded from the Stronger Community Funds across the Hilltops Council area that involves improving sporting facilities for all. Council will continue to focus on sporting facility upgrades in future funding rounds either directly or via the various sporting clubs in the region.
