Bango Wind Farm Community Enhancement Fund

Community groups are invited to apply for support through the Bango Wind Farm Community Enhancement Fund, which opens to applications on Monday 1 July 2024. This fund, now in its second year, aims to distribute the financial benefits of the Bango Wind Farm among not-for-profit organisations, associations, and clubs that contribute positively to the local community.

The Bango Community Enhancement Fund Committee has been tasked with reviewing all applications and determining the most effective allocation of funds to benefit communities surrounding the wind farm.

Eligible organisations with projects located within a 20km radius of the wind farm are invited to apply for grants from the fund.

Key dates include:

  • 1 July 2024 – Applications open
  • 28 July 2024 – Applications close
  • 29 August 2024 – Successful applicants will be notified

  • Boorowa Irish Woolfest Advisory Committee – Project Title: Boorowa Irish Woolfest – Main Act.
  • Boorowa Museum – Project Title: Wagon Protection on Solid Ground.
  • Boorowa RSL sub-Branch – Project Title: Boorowa War Memorial Public Address System Upgrade.
  • Carinya Court – Project Title: Weather Shelters.
  • St Joseph’s Primary School – Project Title: League Tag Uniforms and Project Title: School Front Fence.

Bango Wind Farm is located 14km south of Boorowa and 30km north of Yass. It is the third largest operational wind farm in NSW. The 244MW wind farm produces enough electricity to power 144,000 homes and prevent 543,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
