Landholder obligations
The obligations for landholders and lessees in managing weeds of national significance are listed below. Failure to uphold these may result in Weed Control Notices being served.
- LANDHOLDERS must control weeds of national significance on their land.
- LESSEES of land must control weeds of national significance on that property.
- PERSONS RENTING property must control weeds of national significance on that land.
- THE PERSON(S) WHO HAS THE CARE CONTROL AND USE OF LAND IS THE OCCUPIER AND IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONTROL OF WEED NATIONAL SIGNIFICANCE.
- BOUNDARY CONTROL of weeds of national significance (approximately 40m from boundary fence lines) is compulsory in order to protect neighbouring properties.
- WEEDS OF NATIONAL SIGNIFICANCE PROGRAMS are essential for long term control and eradication.
- Control of all weeds of national significance along PROPERTY WATERWAYS (rivers, creeks and watercourses) is required.
- Implement INTEGRATED WEED MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES combining the control methods of chemical, physical, biological and pasture competition.
