Council’s Environmental Protection Licence
The Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 (POEO Act) establishes the NSW environmental regulatory framework and includes a licensing requirement for certain activities.
Hilltops Council has been issued four Environmental Protection Licences by the NSW Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) which include the Young, Harden and Boorowa Sewerage Treatment Schemes as well as the Boorowa Swimming Pool.

EPA Data Monitoring
Under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997, Council is required to publish monthly summaries of relevant pollution monitoring data.

Please note when monitoring data for previous years is not readily accessible on Council’s website, a copy of the monitoring data that relates to pollution (up to four years) can be provided at no charge to any person who requests a copy of the data.
Redhill Road and Victoria Street Landfills
Council operates waste disposal sites at Redhill Road , Young and Victoria Street Young. Monitoring data is maintained for Groundwater bores at the locations.

Pollution Incident Response Management Plans
Hilltops Council has prepared Pollution Incident Response Management Plans (PIRMP) for each licsensed site, which details the procedures for the response and reporting of pollution incidents.
Council’s PIRMPs assists Council staff and personnel to correctly identify pollution incidents, reflecting the requirements of the Environment Protection Authority’s Guidelines.
Utilisation of these plans aims to improve, monitor and demonstrate environmental performance.
