Burrangong Creek Upgrade Underway

May 23, 2018

New pathways, improved playground areas including an inclusive all-ages playground, outdoor fitness equipment, signage and outdoor art installations are set to be the key elements of planned upgrades to Burrangong Creek.

The project will see $1.5 million spent along the Creek area with work also set to be undertaken on environmental and rehabilitation work along the existing pathway network.

“Over the years Council and the community have made improvements to Burrangong Creek and we hope that this project will continue to build on those improvements,” shared Mayor Brian Ingram.

Council has released a Preliminary Project Plan outlining the categories of expenditure for the $1.5 million that cover Connectivity, Environmental, Recreational and Cultural works.

“This plan has been put together in consultation with a range of community members but we are keen to ensure the entire community have their say.”

“My hope is that this work is considered just the beginning of continued revitalisation of Burrangong Creek as we seek to build this natural feature of Young to be an enjoyable and well-used place for locals and visitors alike,” shared Mayor Ingram.

The $1.5 million for the project was allocated to Burrangong Creek from the Stronger Communities Funding that was provided during amalgamation.

To obtain a copy of the Burrangong Creek Preliminary Project Plan you can visit Councils website or hard copies can be viewed at Hilltops Council – Young Office at 189 Boorowa Street.

In order to be considered by Council, written submissions must be received by 5.00pm on 21 June 2018. Submissions should be forwarded to submissions@hilltops.nsw.gov.au
