It is busy week this week. I have had meetings with business owners, met with Graymont representatives, attended Councillor Workshops regarding the Hilltops Waste Strategy, the Chinese Tribute Gardens, and the Local Environmental Plan. On Friday I will be meeting with Professor Tim Flannery, Head of Climate Change at the Australian Museum, and the Hilltops Climate Action Group.
Next week all Councillors will participate in Code of Conduct training. This training will ensure that we, as Councillors, are up to date and aware of our responsibilities and understand and comply with the standards of conduct that are expected of us. Hilltops Council staff have also recently completed this training.
Our major projects are progressing well. I expect to see a real burst of energy and activity in the region in the coming months with many projects due to commence. Some of these projects include the Chinese Tribute Garden and the Murrumburrah Precinct Plan.
School Infrastructure NSW are expected to make an announcement next week regarding the awarding of the main works construction tender for the joint use library and community facility at Young High School. Construction is expected to begin in late 2020 and is scheduled for completion in late 2021. This is a very exciting project for the Hilltops community.
