Councillor Column- Mayor Brian Ingram

Jan 21, 2020

Our thoughts and prayers are still very much with those who have been affected by the recent bushfires. As many of you know, I have initiated a bushfire relief fund to assist those who have been impacted and to support the recovery of the communities affected. The recovery process is going to be long and every dollar will count toward helping the communities affected get back on their feet. Donations are tax deductible and can be deposited to the following account or at any Hilltops Council Office or branch of the Commonwealth Bank. 100% of proceeds will go directly to those in need.
Account name: MAYORAL BUSHFIRES RELIEF FUND
BSB: 062-630
Account number: 10197243

Last week we held the first round of interviews for the Hilltops Council General Manager. I was pleased with the high calibre of candidates that were interviewed by the recruitment panel and look forward to bringing you news of an appointment after the final interviews are held next week.

There are a big few months ahead of us as a Council. We are currently working on numerous plans and projects including the Local Strategic Planning Statement (a twenty year strategy for land use planning across Hilltops), Rate Harmonisation, the 2020/21 Budget and lobbying for the Boorowa Drought Security Project. In relation to this, I have personally made contact with our local Members and relevant Ministers seeking their support in obtaining funding to ensure water security for Boorowa into the future.

Council is endeavouring to secure the appropriate Medical services required by the Harden community. At the Extraordinary Meeting held last week we resolved to terminate the Medical Practitioner Services Agreement between Council and the current occupants of the Complex. Council has engaged Consultants to assist with market engagement and selection of medical practitioners to provide services at the complex. Every effort is being made to ensure that a provider to operate the facility will be in place without delay.

There is a huge line up of things to do across the region on Australia Day. Programs for events being held in Boorowa, Harden, Young and Wombat can be found at www.hilltops.nsw.gov.au
I warmly welcome our Australia Day Ambassadors George Ellis, Pierre Issa and Robina Beard and look forward to celebrating the day with them and the community.
