Hilltops Council are seeking comments on the draft Hilltops Community Participation Plan. Council resolved at their October meeting to endorse this Plan to be placed on public exhibition for a period of 28 days. Council is seeking feedback from the community on the content and function of land use planning related consultations across the Hilltops Council area.
The draft Hilltops Community Participation Plan (CPP) seeks to make participation in planning clearer for and accessible to all members of the community. The CPP does this by setting out in one consolidated document how and when you can participate in the planning system, our functions and different types of proposals.
The draft Hilltops Community Participation Plan relates to the planning functions of Council only and is a legislative required by the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
The CPP outlines Council’s Community Engagement Principles to guide the approach to community engagement, the types of planning functions Council undertakes and the most suitable consultation approach. The CPP lists the mandated public exhibition periods and requirements for plans, development applications, and other matters, and the giving of reasons for decisions made by Council.
The plan is available on Councils website under “Draft plans, policies & procedures on display” via https://www.hilltops.nsw.gov.au/Council/About-the-council/Draft-Polices-Procedures-on-Display.aspx
The draft Hilltops Community Participation Plan is on public exhibition from 24 October to 20 November 2019.
