Funding win for Hilltops

Jul 18, 2018

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke this morning announced $2.67 Million in funding for Hilltops Council to cover transitional costs associated with the amalgamation of Young, Boorowa and Harden Shire Councils. This means that the shortfall in transitional costs will be covered by the State Government and not the community.

Mayor Brian Ingram is thrilled with this result, explaining this morning that we are finally seeing the benefits of the amalgamation “Amalgamation is hard work and the current Council will lay a strong foundation for the future benefit of the community. We are definitely stronger as one than we were as three. I would personally like to thank Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke along with Premier Gladys Berejiklian, Deputy Premier John Barilaro and Member for Goulburn Pru Goward for their efforts in helping to achieve this outcome for Hilltops.”

In a further boost for the area, $3.16 Million in funding for 22 community projects in the Hilltops region was also announced.  These funds will help community groups upgrade a large number of facilities.
