Have your say- Murrumburrah Flood Study

Dec 24, 2018

A Flood Study and Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan is to be prepared for Murrumburrah and Harden. The study will examine flooding caused by Currawong (Murrimboola) Creek and Cunningham Plains Creek, as well as smaller creeks in town. This will form the basis for floodplain management planning for the area and allow for the investigation of measures to reduce flood risk.

The local knowledge and personal experiences of residents and business operators is an important source of information. We are specifically interested in historical records of flooding such as photographs, flood marks or observations that you may have. Council has sent out questionnaires to residents living in Murrumburrah, residents are asked to return their responses using the pre-paid envelopes provided. Alternatively, complete the questionnaire online or return your responses to a Hilltops Council Office. Please ensure that all surveys are returned before Friday 25th January 2019 or they may not be considered.

Feedback from the community will be analysed and used to establish an accurate flood model of the study area. After data collection, the preliminary results will be produced and a draft study will be placed on public exhibition. Residents will be invited to view and comment on the study and public forums will be held to present and discuss the results of the study.

Questionnaires can be completed online at: www.surveymonkey.com/r/MHFloodStudy
