Help available for those affected by current pandemic

Mar 29, 2020

Hilltops Council are committed to the health, safety and wellbeing of our staff, their families and our community. Council have taken various proactive measures to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19 as well as ensuring that all directives by the NSW Government are implemented.

We understand that this is a difficult time for all Australians and that there are members of our community who have been affected by job losses, business closures, restrictions and event cancellations. Help is available and we urge anyone who needs assistance to explore the following options:

The Australian Government is providing financial assistance to Australians. This assistance includes income support payments, payments to support households and temporary early releases of superannuation. Further information can be found here: https://treasury.gov.au/coronavirus/households
Australian Government Treasury: 1800 020 008 (Monday-Friday 8.30 am to 5.00 pm AEST)

There is also support available for businesses: https://treasury.gov.au/coronavirus/businesses

The impact of COVID-19 on small businesses is devastating and the toll it is taking on people’s mental health is serious. Below is a list of different ways you can access support. If you’re in isolation, don’t worry – there are plenty of services available to you.

You can access mental health support through various means, such as:

  • your local general practitioner (GP)
  • online and phone-based counselling sessions
  • chat and email based mental health services
  • online workshops and webinars
