At the meeting, Mayor Brian Ingram congratulated Councillor Wallace and thanked him for his support over the past three years. “It is great to see Tony re-elected. I have enjoyed working closely with him and look forward to continuing that for the next twelve months. This is a pleasing result as it provides consistency for the community and the organisation,” he said.
The election of the Deputy Mayor takes place every year, with the Mayoral election occurring every second year.
NSW Council elections were due to be held due this month but were postponed in an announcement made by Minister for Local Government Shelley Hancock earlier this year due to COVID-19 health concerns. The elections have been rescheduled for 4 September 2021. Current Councillors will continue to hold their civic offices until the rescheduled elections are held.
