Library and Community Facility Agreement Signed

Oct 31, 2018

Young is one step closer to receiving its new, purpose built joint-use Library and Community Facility following the signing of a Heads of Agreement for the design of the facility between the Hilltops Council and the NSW Government.

The Heads of Agreement signals the intention of both parties, Hilltops Council and the NSW Government, to continue to work together on the design and development of the joint- use facility.

“The Heads of Agreement serves to summarise the discussions between the NSW Government and the Council thus far, outlining details relating to the role each party has in developing the project,” shared Hilltops Mayor Brian Ingram.

“Now that the Heads of Agreement have been signed we will continue to negotiate a legally binding Project Deed and other documents for the governance and occupation of the joint-use facility,” said Mayor Ingram.

The Project Deed will detail the contractual terms agreed by the parties based on the Heads of Agreement.

“Sharing use of valuable assets such as libraries, recreational space and other facilities is a win-win for students and the local community,” Mayor Ingram said.

Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke, has commended Hilltops Council for their collaboration with the NSW Government.

“It’s wonderful to see Council working collaboratively with the NSW Government on this project, which is truly a game changer and a phenomenal investment in the lifelong learning of the Hilltops community,” Ms Cooke said.

“Council has worked hard to reach this agreement and it is an important step for our students, young people and the wider community who deserve the best facilities we can provide.”
