MEDIA RELEASE – 9/12/2021 – Boorowa Irish Woolfest change of date

Dec 9, 2021

For Immediate Release 9 December 2021

Following careful consideration and consultation with local businesses, the Irish Woolfest Committee have elected to change the date of the Irish Woolfest from 19 March 2022 to 2 October 2022.

Due to Covid-19 the Irish Woolfest has been cancelled for the past two years. The committee elected to celebrate the Irish Woolfest on St Patricks Weekend (19 March) 2022. This decision was made to encourage an influx of visitors and economic stimulus to the Hilltops Region, specifically Boorowa, earlier in the year.

However, the committee recognises that the Irish Woolfest is traditionally associated with the October Long Weekend and many visitors and locals have this date ingrained in their minds and calendars. The committee also know that the long weekend will allow for an increase of visitors over a longer period, therefore encouraging tourists to visit multiple sites within the Hilltops Region.

The Irish Woolfest will now be held the October Long Weekend 2022. We can’t wait to see you there and celebrate the iconic Irish Woolfest after two long years without our beloved Running of the Sheep!
