Students from across the Hilltops region were invited to submit their written and visual ideas on what they would like to see included in a new library facility in Young.
Council received hundreds of entries with Hilltops Councillor Rita O’Connor saying it was a difficult decision to determine the winners.
“What a bright future we have with these intelligent, creative and articulate young people in our community,” shared Councillor O’Connor.
“Anna put together a fantastic drawing with masses of detail and Max clearly shared his vision for a new library facility in his written work. It is wonderful to see such thought be put into the new library facility from the younger members of our community.”
Both Max and Anna and their respective schools will receive prizes to be put towards educational resources.
Principal of Young North Public School Angela Gay said “Connecting with the community is so important and is what we promote through the school. We saw this competition as a wonderful opportunity to engage our students in purposeful writing about ideas for the new library. I would like to thank Hilltops Council for the prize which will be well spent on writing resources for Max’s year 3/4 classroom.”
The winning entries along with those shortlisted will be on display in the Hilltops Council, Young office.
