Tourism Development Workshops

Local businesses are being invited to take part in two workshops presented by Hilltops Council and Destination Southern NSW. These workshops will suit tourism businesses such as tours, attractions, accommodation, and cellar door experiences that want practical information to improve their marketing and sales.

The first workshop is one of two focusing on Digital Marketing. It is scheduled for the morning of Thursday 13 February.

This half day workshop will cover:

  • Why you need digital marketing in your business
  • Developing a basic digital marketing plan
  • Knowing what your audience is doing online
  • Choosing tactics that are right for your audience, your budget and your skills
  • Making sure your website is working for you (mobile compatibility, ecommerce, security, hosting)
  • Knowing how Google can help your business
  • Where you can use social media successfully in your business
  • Understanding analytics
  • Introduction to email marketing and video marketing
  • Measuring for success

Following on from the November workshop on 101 Product Distribution will be the 201 workshop that is scheduled for Wednesday 11 March.
The practical tourism product distribution workshop is designed to fully demonstrate the value of distribution at all levels. This will include demystifying the concept of working with third parties, demonstrating the real cost of not using distribution, and building your capacity to take the next steps.
This half day workshop will cover:

  • The travel trade and how they help you drive sales.
  • Rate structures and your capacity to build business through trade partners
  • Yield management and filling empty seats and beds
  • Structuring rates to allow for varying commission levels
  • Establishing origin target markets and third party distribution
