Vision for Jugiong Streetscape

May 7, 2018

The streetscapes of the bustling Hilltops village of Jugiong were a focus at the recent Hilltops Council meeting, with a draft masterplan put forward to upgrade Riverside Drive, the main street passing through Jugiong.

“We have seen significant growth in visitors to Jugiong largely due to the success of hard working local businesses making the village a must-stop location for those travelling on the Hume Highway,” shared Mayor Ingram.
Council recognised the need to provide several street enhancements to the Jugiong CBD and in consultation with the Jugiong Advancement Group (JAG) a draft masterplan has been put together. Issues with parking, pedestrian movements and through traffic passage conflicts have been highlighted as principle areas of improvement.
“Council engaged landscape architects to help pull the draft masterplan together and their brief was simple- focus on the traffic/pedestrian interaction as well as aesthetics, ensuring that the village feel is not lost,” shared Mayor Ingram.
“The draft plans were shown at the JAG AGM and the feedback has been positive.”
“Now is the time to have your say on the draft plan before we proceed with seeking funding to make it possible,” said Mayor Ingram.
The draft masterplan is currently on public exhibition until Thursday 7 June 2018. Copies of the plan will be available in a selection of business in Jugiong and will also be on display in Jugiong Park at the public toilet building.
The draft masterplan is also available on the Councils website.
