Celebrating One Year of Success at Hilltops Young High School Library

It has been one year since the opening of the Hilltops Young High School Library, a bespoke joint-use facility located in Campbell Street, Young. Over the past twelve months the library has quickly become a hub for the Hilltops community, not only providing further learning resources but also a community space. The purpose-built building has provided a children’s library, quiet reading and study spaces enabling community members to reach their personal goals, whether working towards furthering their work qualifications or extending their education aspirations.
Council’s programming at Young has not only benefited from increased space availability but also from enhanced technology capabilities. Librarians can now offer regular early literacy programs like Storytime and Baby Bounce in a more welcoming environment for children and families. Additionally, our staff conduct frequent tech-savvy classes and drop-in sessions to help members build confidence in their digital skills and use of technology.
The workshop space has re-invigorated our school holiday programs and activities and provides opportunities for collaboration with Hilltops Youth Action Group, community partners and providers. Council has seen our holiday sessions well attended and we encourage our community to check out our fantastic upcoming Winter School Holidays program: https://www.hilltops.nsw.gov.au/hilltops-youth-action-group/.
The new Hilltops Young High School Library has also witnessed remarkable growth. Hilltops Council is proud to report a significant increase in membership and visitation across all three branches, with 900 new members joining our community over the past year. Looking ahead, the Hilltops Library, across all branches, aims to further strengthen community connections and aspirations through its unique facilities and services. If you haven’t already, we invite you to visit our libraries and explore what they have to offer https://hilltops.spydus.com/cgi-bin/spydus.exe/MSGTRN/WPAC/HOME.
